Creative Domain

HPG students demonstrate strengths in creativity, imagination and artistic expression, particularly through engagement in Visual Arts and Music. These students show the ability to generate original ideas, experiment with creative processes, and communicate meaning through artistic forms. The Creative Domain provides opportunities for students to extend these talents through enriched learning experiences that encourage innovation, technical skill development and confident artistic expression.

Classroom differentiation Including:
  • More complex and challenging learning tasks

  • Extension activities that allow students to explore topics in greater depth

  • Opportunities for independent or self-directed learning

  • Creative and critical thinking tasks that encourage students to generate original ideas

  • Research tasks or case studies that extend understanding of key concepts

  • Opportunities for peer leadership and collaboration within learning activities

Enrichment opportunities such as:

HPG students demonstrate strengths in creativity, performance and artistic expression. To support these talents, students can participate in SHINE enrichment opportunities in Music, Visual Arts and Entertainment, where they are provided with additional opportunities to develop their skills and explore their interests.

Through SHINE programs, students may experience:

  • More advanced creative and performance tasks in music, art and entertainment

  • Extension activities that allow students to explore their talents in greater depth

  • Opportunities to perform, create and present work to an audience

  • Independent creative projects where students develop and refine their own ideas

  • Leadership opportunities, such as supporting peers in performances or creative activities

  • Learning about artists, musicians and performers to inspire their own creative work

Performances, competitions and exhibitions including:
  • Perform in school concerts and events, including the school’s Big Gig music performance

  • Exhibit their artwork in school displays and community exhibitions

  • Participate in local arts events and competitions, such as Central Vision and Breezy Beats

  • Take part in regional showcases, including the Central Coast Showcase

  • Present outstanding HSC Visual Arts work in exhibitions such as ARTEXPRESS
