Entering the World of Work

fairwork.gov.auIt can be tricky as a young person starting your first job and navigating the workplace environment if you're unsure about workplace laws.

The Fair Work Ombudsman has done the hard work for you and created free resources that you can use to help you understand what's expected of you when you first enter the workforce. Knowing your rights and obligations at work, and where to go for help before you start a job will get you off to a good start.

This short online course is a great way to start your learning about your rights and responsibilities in the workplace. It is highly interactive and features:

* realistic video scenarios, allowing you to learn from others' experiences and bust common workplace myths

* interactive video activities which allow you to practice talking to your new boss

* a downloadable checklist to make sure you're ready for your first day
