LMHS Operational update - Tuesday, 18 August 2020
Good Afternoon Parents, Carers and Community Members,
As advised yesterday, I have outlined below some of the main NSW Department of Education directions as they relate to operations at LMHS. These alterations to current school operations and planning are in response to the recently released “Term 3 Learning guidelines for school staff”.
Vigilance in ensuring that staff and students do not attend school or work if they are unwell.
- There was separate detailed advice and direction for students and parents posted via email and social media by our Business Manager, Katrina Rossetti earlier today, so please be on the lookout for this information.
Where possible, students should stay within their relevant cohort group (i.e. class, year group, or stage) for all learning activities. This applies to all curriculum activities, extra-curricular activities, arts activities and sport and physical activities. The mixing of students from different cohort groups should be avoided where possible.
- As a result there will be a restructuring of sport and the TSP program on Fridays.
- Assemblies can only be in Year groups.
Non-essential adults are still not permitted on school grounds or at school events.
- This includes parents and carers except for face-to-face parent/teacher meetings that are essential (e.g. to discuss disciplinary or other welfare matters).
- Only providers that are essential to the delivery of curriculum can continue to provide services and programs until further notice.
A Year 12 graduation assembly is allowed with restrictions.
- After consultation with the Senior Student Leadership group today - the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony will take place on Weds 23rd September consistent with current COVID-19 restrictions. More details of this will be published to the community after further consultation with Year 12 and staff at the completion of the Trial HSC exams next week.
Year 12 Formal - School formals, dances, graduation or other social events are not permitted and schools should not promote or sanction social activities organised by others.
- After consultation with the Senior Student Leadership group today - the Year 12 Formal has been postponed until Term 4.
As per yesterday’s post - more information is available on their “A guide to NSW school students for Term 3” found at: https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families
Any urgent concerns can be emailed to the school on the address below.
Kind regards,
Tony Keevill - Principal LMHS.
